About Tims Dairy
Tims Dairy has occupied its current site in Chalfont St Peter since 1996 and is run by brothers, Chris, Peter, Bides and Tony Timotheou.
Originally a farm, major re-development was necessary which meant rebuilding the existing premises internally, putting in new floors, walls, production rooms, laboratory, and installing services and plant to create a modern purpose dairy.
In 2004, approximately £200k was invested in a new warehouse with cold storage and ambient storage facilities to increase the factory capacity and output.
Increasing production has been a priority as the demand for Tims Dairy’s quality dairy products has grown in the retail, wholesale and foodservice sectors. Over the past few years there has been further investment into plant, machinery and transport. The original five ageing packaging lines have been replaced by three new ones, two being state-of-the-art; two ageing piston fillers have been replaced with three modern flow meter fillers and the installation of a fully automated milk and cream reception facility have vastly improved production capability and efficiency. With these investments and a two shift working pattern, a capacity of 200 tons of yogurt per week would be achievable!
All investment and development is done with the environment in mind. The recent acquisition of a new 26 ton vehicle which uses the latest euro 5 engines is the start of a replacment programme for the whole fleet; a high efficiency boiler for processing, along with a high heat recovery heat exchanger is just another example of what we are doing for our environment. Future projects include minimising shrink wrapping, heat recovery from refrigeration plants and harvesting rainwater.
Future aims include further increases to the factory premises and warehouse space plus improvements to the site facilities. Tims Dairy also aim to duplicate all processing facilities which will mean an increase in hourly production from 3000 litres to 9000 litres.
